Once upon a time there was a woman who felt so stressed she used to smoke cigarettes every day, sleep much more than most people do each night, nap for three hours a day on top of that, have anxiety/panic attacks, and get sicker and sicker for longer and longer periods of time. That woman... was me! Now I'm happier, healthier and much more at peace than I've ever been. So now I want to ask you two questions. Are you feeling as much peace in your life as you would like? Would you like to feel more peaceful? We all know that peace will give us a longer, more enjoyable life. But do you really know how much you need that kind of relaxation in your life, believe me, it is not selfish to give yourself more time in the day, and to be more relaxed for the ones you love, it helps both you and them. You deserve it, and they deserve to have a calmer, more peaceful you. So stick around and we'll get you that peaceful feeling you crave.
There is something I do when I feel like I need peace that works every time, that both makes me feel much more comfortable and is effortless on my part. I've told you that I used to nap for three hours every day, but now, because of my secret tool for peace, I not only feel as rested and peaceful as if I had actually taken a three hour nap, but afterwards, I don't even need a nap anymore, so I now get all that extra time to do whatever I want with my day! And this even helped me through all the times I tried to quit smoking, and everyone knows how stressful that is. Not to mention the fact that I now actually like getting up early and enjoy my day more, whereas before I used to sleep until late afternoon and hated morning people. I still enjoy quiet time in the morning, but I actually look forward to my days now. My secret tool for peace even helped my friends hyperactive daughter calm down, it's that good! The reason I love my secret tool above and beyond the rest of my tools for feeling more peaceful is because it takes no effort on my part whatsoever, none! But don't worry if you don't know all the secrets to getting more peace in your life, most people don't know them, so we'll get there together. So relax, it's alright, take a deep breath and get comfortable, because getting and feeling peace are much easier than you think, I promise, all will soon be revealed.
Ahhhh... peace. A calm, quiet stillness. A tranquil place and space that's all your own. I go to my space often to feel more serene and peaceful. It's easier to experience good things like love and joy with more peace in your life. Achieving peace is a balance just like anything else in life, but I think we can all agree that peace definitely fits in the "good things" category ;) As we go on, the biggest tip I can give you for achieving peace, can also be the hardest for some people, but it is the most lasting once learned. It is the pot of golden peace on the other side of the rainbow. That special peaceful place above all others that you go to in your dreams. We're about to set out on a journey to fulfill that dream. Also there is a trick for achieving peace that's as automatic as eating and breathing, so as you can see, it's far easier than you think to achieve peace in your life. We're about to start feeling peaceful together, so please don't skip ahead until we get you some peace right now.
But first let's talk quickly about one of my favorite ways to achieve more peace in my life; human contact and the peace that comes from touch. Hugging and other forms of human contact can be very soothing and peaceful. Hugs contribute to peace of mind, so if you can give more hugs in your life, then by all means do so :) However one of my very favorite forms of touch, a nice therapeutic massage, can be gotten if you prefer that method. If I could afford it I'd have a massage everyday, well, maybe, if I wasn't so self-conscious about my body that is ;)
Just in case you need some peace right away though, let's get you some peace right here and now. Remember I told you there was a trick as automatic as breathing, that's because it is breathing, now don't laugh, most people take it for granted, but it can be a very powerful tool if used correctly. It's all in HOW you breathe that makes you feel more serene and calm. Let's do it together right now so you can see how it maybe differs from your everyday breathing. We breathe like this automatically on a lesser level when we are naturally relaxing. So now let's take a nice long deep breath in as far and as much as we can suck into our lungs... Then... let's hold it for as long as we possibly can... Then... slowly start to breathe out until we've pushed the last little bit of breath out. You will probably start to feel a little better immediately. I know I do :) You may want to breathe normally for a little bit before you go on. Then... just repeat, deep breaths in... hold for as long as you can... releasing slowly and thoroughly. Do this as many times as you need to to relax and soothe your muscles.
People who know the secret to lasting peace know this next tip. It is the biggest and sometimes the hardest tip to master, but it is my pot of gold on the other side of the rainbow for my inner peace. It is changing your thoughts and feelings. They say we are what we think, so if we want more peace, let's think more peaceful thoughts. Let's stretch out our bodies while we think some wonderfully soothing and restful thoughts. We'll do a nice soothing dreamlike visualization. First let's picture ourselves snuggled up in a couch by a nice crackling fire with some nice hot cocoa or warm spiced cider - you can keep this picture in your head to soothe and calm you, or the next one we'll do, or anything that works for you :) Next let's picture a calm, quiet beach with the serenity of the ocean sounds playing in the background. Feel the nice warm sand on your feet and the coolness just below the sands surface. The mellow sounds of palm trees gently swishing in the background and seagulls calls far off in the distance. And calm, soft, soothing, relaxing clouds in a blue sky. Doesn't that sound tranquil? Next repeat a soothing word or words slowly over and over again. Any of these will do; relax, calm, tranquil, and peaceful.
Now, do you remember how I told you about my secret tool for peace, the one that takes absolutely no effort whatsoever on my part. My ultimate secret for getting peace is right here. We've all used them, either at a friend's house or in a mall, and if you haven't, you should, yes, I'm talking about a massage chair. Do you remember how good it felt when you used it? If you're on a budget though, like me, there is a cheaper alternative that I personally use, you can use a massage mat, I can't afford not to have one, I need it for my peace of mind and health. It isn't quite as good as a massage chair, but it does help. I've noticed that most of my personal breakthroughs came from trying to help others, when I saw that my (now ex) husband was stressed I bought him a massage pad, when I found out how good it felt and how peaceful I felt... well... let's just say that when I was homeless, as soon as I got my very own cubicle, it was one of the first things I spent my money on, with what little money I had! This also works if you are at all self-conscious about your body. But it's the perfect tool for effortless peace either way. Remember how I told you I used to nap for three hours at a time, now even twenty minutes on my massage pad and I'm feeling as well rested as if I got a three hour nap, but guess what, after that I don’t even need a nap anymore. So no matter which one you use, both the massage pad and the massaging chair feel soooo soothing and comfortable, they both help you live a longer more relaxing life. If I could afford it though, I'd buy a massage chair, now THAT would be the best!
